The Meatmen The Meatmen were a Michigan, United States punk band headed by Tesco Vee from 1980 to 1997. The Meatmen made fun of the hardcore punk scene of the time. The band was known for their stage antics, and for songs with colorful song titles such as "What's This Shit Called Love?", "I Sin For A Living", "1 Down, 3 To Go" (a reference to the murder of former Beatles member John Lennon), and the Suck Trilogy of "Crippled Children Suck," "French People Suck," and "Camel Jockeys Suck." Although the bands politically controversial subject matter was a subject of irritation among southern evangelists and pet exterminators alike, Tesco Vee's creative, inspiring, and profound lyrics penetrated the minds of his faithful followers like a pumice protuberance in a velvet intestine.

Nebula It could be said that Nebula are the ultimate festival band. How simply perfect the plan would be to sit back with a fat one and take in those lazy, recycled Detroit Garage riffs and think of the universe as one great hug. But fuck that. Nebula are the ultimate festival band but not because it's part of any cosmic plan to get bombed outta your mind and stick it in a bass bin. Nope, they're the best because they kick serious butt in a classic rocking way.

Serpent Throne Say there was a heavy rock festival in like '72 where Black Sabbath, Wishbone Ash, the Scorpions, Budgie, and like Cactus are supposed to play, but then, due to a series of plane crashes and natural disasters, only 1 surviving member from each band can make it. In order to calm down the crowd of heavy rockers, Iommi grabs a couple dudes from the other bands and puts together an emergency band. And then Uli Roth says, "We don't need a singer because he'll just get in the way of the riffs." I think that's what Serpent Throne is aiming for. Whether we get there or not is another story, but we'll drink some beer and rip some guitar harmonies along the way.

The Thickness Weighing in at well over one thousand pounds (lbs), THE THICKNESS joined in 2005 seeking to entertain the masses with their version of Punk Rock Comedy. The band met at Berklee College of Music in Boston and instantly knew that their love for the punk would ostracise them from their jazz loving hippie constituents. The band is touring constantly in support of the punk... With a triangle, lead bass, and stereo drums, THE THICKNESS will add girth and length to any crowd lucky enough to envelope the band entirely into their, uh, ears.

Y-Rock On XPN & Heyday welcome
ism A lot of “isms” threaten to tear modern society apart at the seams: sexism, racism, extremism, radicalism, terrorism and more. In such an era of decay (moral, societal and otherwise), perhaps an apocalypse wouldn’t be such a bad idea – at least that’s how Andre Mistier sees it. The charismatic lead singer and songwriter for the New York-based quartet ism describes his band’s potent blend of rock and electronica as “music for the party at the end of the world.” After all, not all “isms” are bad: Altruism, activism and heroism could help make the next world a better place, and there’s no reason we can’t start practicing them right now.

Spindrift We are Spindrift. Go West, my friend... West, where the stage is set... West, into the sunset. Ride. This is music. This is vindication!... in the form of an invitation, delivered by the winds whisper into your ear. You Stranger, have stumbled upon black-mirrored waters that shimmer with the Night's darkest of promises. It flows and laps out the song of the wanderer's lament. The melody lifts you, and drifts through you, with fingers of smoke. Centuries of man's invention, have now gathered all about you in a mystical mass. "Come with us." The sound beckons from a fiery place within. All Heart and Hell bent, we have woven a carpet of stars for the very purpose of riding into your soul. We are Spindrift.

Alright Junior An attitude. A genuine yearning for what is needed began these travels. Music and enjoying times doing what you want to do with life were the culprits for this eternal rendezvous. Jace and Mike, one sweet evening, had drinks and such over thoughts, and decided without doubt what the future shall hold. Steve, tenderly and naturally, was there to pull up quick with some nasty thoughts of his own. Greg, in a sweeping fashion with his thumping charm, completed a meal well worth cooking. Note, material may be evoking upon arrival to your head space. All members hailing from various regions located on the east coast of the US, alright, junior. put up a flag for everyone to see...and a message for everyone to hear...

Storyville Inspired by the brightest joys and darkest pains life has to offer, Storyville channels his ideas into music and lyricism, ready to break any boundaries that might hold down his expression. Storyville literally redefines the concept of Hip Hop with his experimental style and surprising lyrical content. He then takes this same passion and energy, and applies it to his unconventional, but captivating and exciting stage performances.
Philadelphia Slick Led by acclaimed emcee Noesis (Ben Polinsky), Philadelphia Slick puts a contemporary spin on the best of soul and funk music from the 60s and 70s. Mixing dizzying rhymes with Curtis Mayfield-like horn and bass lines, the eight piece band appeals to hip hop fans as well everybody who loves soul and funk.
Viceversah Born in New York City in the roaring 80's, viceversah now stays in Boston but represents all four corners of the earth. Vice does what every lyricist must do - tear up the stage and set the booth on fire - to survive. Ambition does not elude his brainspan, though his aim is to spit energy to people on a grassroots level, energy that can be processed and put to use on an everyday basis by the listener.

Tesco Vee, drum major in the squadron of doom, leads the manic maelstrom of hate-filled fun and frolic with live footage from 1979-2007, Tesco on TV, and more mindless moronic mayhem than shouldn't be allowed by law. Punk archivist Dirk Boinker has spent the last 2 years pouring over tapes, splicing, repairing and mentally masturbating his way to this...sinsational final product! The only DVD officially endorsed by Satan.

The Ettes As fetching as they are ferocious, L.A.’s Ettes can’t help it: power garage is part of their DNA. Think Sonics/Yardbirds, New York Dolls/Runaways – or a distaff Reigning Sound. Formed in ’04 by singer/guitarist Lindsay “Coco” Hames, the trio offered up a remarkable personal article of faith by self-financing a trip to England’s Toe Rag Studios to record with White Stripes/Billy Childish cohort Liam Watson before they even had a record deal. The sonic and emotional yield, dare we say it, is primal, from the locomotive pileup of “It Ain’t You” and the swaggering Nancy Sinatra-on-fuzz of “Alley Cat” to the towering Phil Spector wall o’ sound that’s “Beggars” and an actual Reigning Sound cover, the churning “We Repel Each Other.” In song after song Hames peels away layers of feminine vulnerability; abetted by drummer Maria “Poni” Silver and bassist Jeremy “Jem” Cohen, though, she’s utterly liberated. With Shake The Dust, the Ettes announce a titular manifesto as gleefully unsubtle, and memorable, as a Kick Out The Jams or a Shake Some Action. And while the band’s busy shaking the dust – lord, do they ever, live -- you’ll be shaking your ass.

Ungdomskulen Finding a suitable name for a rock group can be a real challenge. After exploring the possibilities of names such as Standing Ovation and Goddamnit, the three young Norwegians Frode Flatland (bass), Kristian Stockhaus (vocals, guitar), and Øyvind Solheim (drums) finally settled on Ungdomskulen, which simply means "middle school" in the boys' native language. This power trio mixes musical styles, such as new wave, indie rock, prog, and Zappa-influenced avant-garde rock.

Mock Orange For the past ten years indie rock troubadours Mock Orange have continued to produce some of the best, most interesting and intricate records the genre has to offer. The band has followed these records with relentless touring over three continents, performing alongside bands like Rogue Wave, Ted Leo, and Minus the Bear.

On September 9, 2008, Mock Orange will release its latest offering, Captain Love, on Wednesday Records. The album is the follow-up to the critically acclaimed Mind Is Not Brain, which Alternative Press dubbed the "closest to a perfect album we've heard in a long time."

Captain Love was recorded over the better part of last year in Nashville, Tennessee with producer Jeremy Ferguson (Be Your Own Pet, Josh Rouse). Punctuated by the engaging artwork of Kathleen Lolley (My Morning Jacket's Z), the album picks up where Mind Is Not Brain left off and proves to be Mock Orange's most ambitious and affecting release to date.

Quaff The main characteristic of "quaff" lies in the twin-vocal style of "uta" (melody) and "tuzuri" (rap) - a rock band with heavy emphasis on the very essence of being Japanese. The underlying epiphanic message is obvious in the lyrical content as well as in the unique melody. The band's material is written around the beauty of Japanese language. What "quaff" is trying to convey, is human emotion, vision, heart of music as art form, and strong will. Their music is not within any given boundary, a musical genre, and it remains to be true art, which is virtually non-existent in the domestic (Japanese) music scene. The very essence of this oriental feel and its emotional expression can be appreciated throughout the world, beyond the obvious appeal for the Japanese ears.

Pierced Arrows Fred and Toody Cole from Dead Moon, legendary 80s Sub Pop Band. After the demise of underground legends DEAD MOON in fall 2006, nobody was surprised to hear that founders Fred and Toody Cole had lost little time in starting a new band. They recruited drummer Kelly Halliburton in April 2007, and soon the PIERCED ARROWS were up and running, playing live shows in the Northwest and recording songs for upcoming releases. PIERCED ARROWS picks up, musically, where DEAD MOON left off - a lo-fi assault on the senses played with the sincerity and feeling that made DM such a special band for all of their fans around the world.

Electric Six Formerly known as the Wildbunch, the Detroit sextet Electric Six mix garage, disco, punk, new wave, and metal into cleverly dumb, in-your-face songs like "Danger! High Voltage," which reached number two on the British charts early in 2003. Singer Dick Valentine, guitarists Rock and Roll Indian and Surge Joebot, bassist Disco, and drummer M. formed the Wildbunch in 1996 (keyboardist Tait Nucleus? joined the band later), releasing their debut single, "I Lost Control (Of My Rock & Roll)," and the eight-track An Evening with the Many Moods of the Wildbunch's Greatest Hits...Tonight! that year on Uchu Cult Records. They also released 1999's full-length on that imprint. The group switched to Flying Bomb for singles like 1997's "The Ballade of MC Sucka DJ," the Christmas single "Flying Bomb Surprise Package, Vol. 1," and 2001's "Danger! High Voltage," which became an underground hit, particularly in the U.K.

The following year the group signed to XL and re-recorded "Danger! High Voltage," this time adding backing vocals from the White Stripes' Jack White. After the re-release of the single in 2003, Electric Six issued their full-length debut album, Fire, later that spring. Just a few weeks after the album's release, Disco, Rock and Roll Indian, and Surge Joebot left the band and were replaced by Frank Lloyd Bonaventure, the Colonel, and Johnny Na$hinal. In 2004, the band got a new record deal with Rushmore, a British Warner Bros. imprint, and lost Bonaventure and M., whose bass and drum duties were filled by John R. Dequindre and Percussion World, respectively. The second Electric Six album, Señor Smoke, arrived in the U.K. early in 2005. It took another year for the album to be released stateside, on Metropolis Records. Switzerland arrived in fall of 2006.

Local H Best-known for their unorthodox two-man lineup, hard rock act Local H has made a career out of straddling the fine line between indie and classic rock, cleverly framing their sardonic lyrics with a generous helping of power chords and feedback.
Golden Dogs Listening to the Golden Dogs’ sophomore effort, Big Eye Little Eye,, you can’t help but think the Toronto quintet is one of the ones who sound best live. Now, that’s not meant as a slight against the record. In fact, if anything, it’s meant as a compliment to the band as a whole. They’ve made their name in their home and native land thanks to the sweat-fueled pop music rampages they call live shows—and even with the release of this very same record north of the border last year, it seems that it’s still those live shows that everyone wants to talk about when they talk about the Golden Dogs.
